They recorded two cassettes on which he was featured. He left NYC in 1994, and from 1997-2003, he released several solo albums in the underground, on which he wrote all songs and played all instruments. These were available on the original incarnation of mp3.com, where he had some minor success with his adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's "Annabel Lee". In 2003, he moved back to NYC and met up with Michael Kaplan and Nick Wolven to form Pain Hertz. After playing with several bassists, including Carmine Guida, Kaplan's friend Micah Chalmer was brought into the fold. From 2003-2006, this incarnation of Pain Hertz released 5 CDs on their own label, which were produced and mixed by Lozupone and Kaplan. When Kaplan left in 2006, Pain Hertz went on to release 2 more CDs as a trio. When Chalmer left in 2009, Pain Hertz finished up its final CD, and continued as a duo, where Lozupone used various method to play both bass and guitar parts live simultaneously, with no pre-recrodings.
