In 2006, Michael Kaplan made the decision to leave Pain Hertz to pursue his solo project. It was agreed that Pain Hertz would go on as a three-piece, but also that the three songs which they had already begun recording would be finished and released. A fourth song, Say Goodbye, was partially recorded, when Kaplan decided he wanted to work on it further and use it in a future project (which became his Flaud Logic album). Eventually, the three songs were finished, and sound a good deal more mature than the material which preceded them. Some versions of this release feature a studio recording of the band's medley of covers, featuring Michael Jackson's Dirty Diana, Danzig's Mother, The Scorpions' No One Like You, The Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams, The White Stripes' Seven Nation Army, Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train, and Derek and the Dominoes' Layla. Some editions of this release also feature some celebratory bonus live tracks featured throughout Pain Hertz' time with Michael Kaplan.
