DogAndPanda: Chocolate News

Chocolate News

I have to say, I was glad that Chocolate News was on the air; and nt just because it gave David Alan Grier some work. I was never a huge fan of his actually, but he really did a good job with his performances on the show.

His monologues were almost always entertaining. The skits were very much hit and miss, much like they are on the Daily Show, etc. One of my favorites was the one where they showed that Kiss were really black, under the make-up - and that Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss were brought in for the 'unmasking' to make it more palatable. Heh.

There seems to be some debate on wikipedia on whether the show has been cancelled. Some people seem to want very badly for the show to seem to have been cancelled - even though there's only one citation. Maybe it has, maybe it hasn't - I can't tell (although I DID get involved!).

Here's something interesting though: the timing of the show. Chocolate news started about a month before the election - the as-we-are-so-often-told then-potentially-historic first election of a black president. Is it possible that Comedy Central just wanted a "black" show to capitalize on all of the material that would be circulating around the election - and now that the election is over, and he's in, there's not expected to be as much clamor for this sort of material? It's possible, isn't it. What, then, can we expect for D.L.Hughley Breaks The News?
